How to Get to Heaven
At Foot of Ten Independent Baptist Church, it is our goal that everyone knows Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and that they strive to gain a personal relationship with Him. One’s eternal destiny is truly the most important thing in life. It is not a matter of Religion, but it is a Relationship with Jesus Christ that matters. The Bible teaches that we have an eternal soul, and once we die, we will either spend eternity in Heaven or Hell.
The only true way to know for sure that you will spend eternity in Heaven is to accept Jesus Christ as your personal, sufficient Savior. Salvation is a free gift from God given to us by His Son’s death on the cross of Calvary. To accept this free gift just follow these steps:
First: Realize that God loves you! The Bible tells us in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Second: Realize that everyone is a sinner. In Romans 3:23, the Bible says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Third: Realize that sin has a price that must be paid. The Bible also says in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Fourth: Realize that Jesus Christ died and rose again to pay for your sin. Romans 5:8 states, “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Fifth: Pray and ask Jesus Christ to be your Saviour and claim His promise of eternal life.
Romans 10:9,13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Finally, we have this precious promise of God from Romans 8:38-39, “For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Would you like to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour? If so, here is a simple prayer you can pray to God. Saying this prayer is a way to declare to God that you are relying on Jesus Christ for your salvation. The words themselves will not save you. Only faith in Jesus Christ can provide salvation!
“God, I know that I have sinned against you and am deserving of punishment, but Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. With your help, I place my trust in You for salvation. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness – the gift of eternal life! Amen!”
